Tuition Forgiveness Programs and Scholarship LoansTuition forgiveness programs, often called scholarship loans, are another great way for some students to pay for college, depending on their area of study. If you're thinking of becoming a public school teacher, a nurse, or a doctor, or certain other careers, and you're willing to work in a specific place for a number of years after graduation, you'll certainly want to look into the possibility of taking part in a tuition forgiveness program. These are the latest wrinkle in college financial aid, and are becoming more common. Many local and state governments, and some public interest groups, use them to encourage students to fill critical needs position in under served communities. Typical positions would be along the lines of inner city school teachers and rural health practitioners. They work in one of two ways, either by the group paying your tuition right up front, and then requiring you to work a certain number of years or become liable for it, or by repaying a certain percentage of student loans that you took out to pay for college each year that you work in the critical need position. Either way, if you're flexible, and want to work where you're really needed, tuition forgiveness programs are one option you should look into. 2007 Copyrighted and protected by FinancialAidTips.org
